We are pleased to present Resurrection Angel, originally designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The Resurrection Angel is a detail of the stunning Resurrection Morning stained glass window prominent in St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Lowell, MA. This picturesque Gothic revival church was built in two phases, with the tower and southerly two bays completed in 1845. The chapel, which houses Tiffany’s Resurrection Morning, was built in 1868.
Resurrection Angel captures the essence and purity of a single angel gazing lovingly in an extraordinary expression of beauty and aspiration. The angel’s magnificent wings combine varying shades of blue and purple, using light and color to create a reverent and opalescent vision of inspiration. The subtle, multi-colored effects seen in the face, wings, and sky demonstrate the craftsmanship and virtuosity of Tiffany at his best.
