Our family has used this plate since the early 80's and everytime we bring it out we mark on the black the person and reason. We ran out of room and a notebook that we store with it in the original box. Its a great tradition when we bring out the plate to remember all the people and times we celebrated.. especially since some are no longer with us anymore. I give this as a gift to almost everyone I know and hope their family too will carry on this tradition.
