The covers of At Home with the Word® are telling the story of salvation history through eight colorful episodes that depict the unfolding relationship between humanity and the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The series began in 2017 with creation; continued in 2018 with God’s covenant with Abraham, in 2019 with Moses leading the people across the dry bed of the Red Sea. The 2020 cover portrays Ezekiel’s vision in the valley of the dry bones and 2021 shows John the Baptist baptizing the Lord. This year shows Mary Magdalene running to tell the disciples the news of the Resurrection. The last two covers show Christ returning to his Father at the Ascension, and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Artist Cody F. Miller created the scenes of the covenant with Abraham and Pentecost. William Hernandez painted the vision from Ezekiel, and James B. Janknegt has contributed the other five.

"St. Jerome said, 'Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.' It is for this very reason that I have been providing At Home with the Word to parishioners at each parish I have served in since the early 1990s. The weekly readings are wonderfully presented through reflections which make the Scriptures approachable for parishioners. It is very easily used both in catechetical preparation for Mass as well as mystagogical reflection afterwards." --Fr. John Durbin, pastor St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Apex, North Carolina "The parishioners at St. Mary of the Lake look forward to receiving At Home with the Word each year so that they can review the readings before coming to Mass each Sunday. At Home with the Word also is the “textbook” for the sessions of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The book helps the catechumens understand how the readings of the liturgical year fit together and how the Paschal Mystery is revealed throughout the liturgical year. The Christian initiation team members also find that it is valuable to use At Home with the Word in correspondence with the Year of Grace calendar." --Mary Beth Jambor, director of Sacraments and Worship at St. Mary of the Lake, White Bear Lake, Minnesota "I find I get much more out of the readings during Mass if I have read the Scriptures beforehand in At Home with the Word. The parish provides the book for parishioners, members of small faith communities, the catechumens in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, and for Bible study. At Home with the Word is well received among all of these groups, who are grateful for the book."--Kathleen Armstrong, former director of religious education at St. John the Evangelist Church, Columbia, Maryland. "For several years St. Raphael Parish has provided At Home with the Word to parishioners and prayer groups as a valuable way for them to read the Scriptures before Mass and reflect and study them with others. We always save a few copies of At Home with the Word to go into a gift bag for new parishioners." --Terri Ellsworth, administrative assistant at St. Raphael Parish, Glasgow, Montana "At St. Katharine Drexel Parish, we enjoy using the text of At Home with the Word for Sunday Mass preparation as well as for faith sharing." --Fr. Paul Whittington, pastor of St. Katharine Drexel
